Post subject:  Battery that hasn't been charged for ages

Hi guys,

Have recently bought a losi mini LST off trademe, and it came with a 7.2V 1200mAh NIMH battery.
I've just tried to charge it for the first time (hasn't been used for 3 years according to seller) and my charger stopped charging it after about 7 minutes at 1 amp and said it was full.
It only took 82mAh and had my charger is showing 9.14V final voltage. It's initial voltage when I very first plugged it in was only about 0.2V.
The battery itself looks like it's in very good condition (venom brand) too.

Should i try using the NIMH cycle mode on my charger to refresh it, or trickle charge it on a low current, or just try charging it again at 1A?

Any help much appreciated.

Jamie

Hey - I just done the same thing recently on some old NiMh batteries at that voltagetoo. I found some of them peaked really early like yours did. To accept a full charge you need to cycle them a few times - use discharge mode - or even just do a charge mode again keeping an eye on it. I was charging at 1C (3-4Amps for my 3300's)

sounds like it need a few cycles to bring it back up.

if it doesnt recover to atleast 1000mah id bin it and get a small lipo for it
