Presidents Report – August 2017

Hello everyone,

This is just a quick update on what is happening behind the scenes, to keep everyone up to date. This is by no means a replacement for the Club meeting minutes that Paul is doing a fantastic job with. Please check these out on the forum for more detail on what’s happening, these posts will be a quick summary.

First off, thanks to all those that have turned up to our race days over the last few months. This year has been a bit messy weather wise and race days have unfortunately been few and far between. But on a positive note, we are now at the tail end of winter so should start seeing some sunshine very soon! It would be a good time to get those cars dusted off and cleaned up ready for the next race day – which will be Onroad on Sunday 27th August.

There has been some discussion about holding a CMR race weekend, with both Onroad and 1/8th Offroad showing some interest. We will be having a specific meeting to discuss the 1/8th Track and possible ideas for racing events – so keep an eye out for this in the coming weeks.

The 1/10 Offroad track is a work in progress, and believe me there is a lot of work going into this behind the scenes. At this time of year, it is difficult to do anything with clay due to the weather which is why you have not seen any movement on the track site, but in saying that there will be a working bee in the coming weeks to get things started. Once the weather clears up things will progress quickly, and we will be able to have some wicked 1/10th offroad racing!

There will be a few changes to the website and facebook pages. There will be a list of classes we race and the rules for each on the website, which is currently being worked. We have decided to split the Facebook page into two pages. One will be a members only page, as it is now, where anything club related will be posted ie. Club meetings, Race days, working bees etc. The second will be a public page, used to promote CMR. This will be the place to post all your photos and videos, that way everyone can see what we do, not just page members.

We will be holding an Open Day at the beginning of December to entice the public to come up and see what we do and hopefully gain some new members. More members, more racers, better racing! More details for this will be posted closer to the time, but if anyone has any ideas for advertising etc please let myself or any of the committee members know.

Lastly, our next club meeting is on the 13th of September at which we will be discussing the remits before the NZRCA AGM. These are a mix of wording and rule changes, I have posted these on the forum. Please take a read through and see what you think, and any comments please post up! We will be deciding on how we as a club wish to vote at the club meeting, but we need to know how you all feel about them. So if you can’t make the meeting, or just want to have your say, please comment on the forum.

That’s about it for now. If you have any queries please let me know, otherwise I will see you at the track!

Cheers,

Glen Robb
CMR Club President
